For Eg. Savings Bank and Savings Certificates service opening time is 9.00 am to 2.00 pm. But the same Post office will have a different time for the Booking of a registered letter or Parcel (9.00 am to 6.00 pm).

Post Offices in cities have working hours between 10.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m or 09.30 a.m to 05.30 p.m.
Time may vary depends on the arrival time of the mails (Depends on the Railway or State Transport Timing).
Some of the post offices work 24×7 in India. Eg: Some R.M.S Centers may work night also (6.00 p.m to 6.a.m), depends on the goods train timing in that region. Even though Sunday is a holiday, Some Post Offices (such as RMS, GPO) may work.

- Post Offices have a perfect slot of working hours and lunchtimes. (But postal office working hours and lunchtime may different in different circles)
- The post offices do not open on Sundays (But some RMS, GPO may open depends on the Circle)
- The post office remains open on Saturdays except if it is not a holiday (But some services may close at 12.p.m, other services may work till 2.pm, 4.p.m, or 6.pm)
- Other than public holidays, the post office remains close on the other five days in a year and it differs from circle to circle.
- The normal working hours of the post office are from 8 AM to 4 PM.
